In Russian culture, spring begins on the first of March, with Russians all over saying “Happy Spring” as winter gives its final push and it’s still snowing outside. I was always grumpy in the face of this relentless cheerfulness. What 20 days make!
Here on the east coast, it’s been a really hard winter, with a lot of snow, and I have been looking forward to when the daylight starts to push the night back as far as it can. And, as someone who celebrates the turning of the year as a holiday, it really adds a bounce to my step.religion
