On Wednesday I noticed that the bags under my eyes had grown darker, and well, baggier. On Thursday I realized no amount of concealer could make them go away. On Friday I decided to take a much-needed break. For about four weeks now I have been working from 6-10 hours every day. So on Friday I told myself that apart from reading and eating I would do nothing. It seemed simple at the time...

My ceiling started getting severely water-damaged on Monday. By Wednesday half of it was on my floor. So I got my angel of a Russian tutor to help me get it fixed. My landlady assessed the damage on Thursday but came back on Friday to wait for the repair guy to come...

My bottle of face soap started sputtering on Tuesday and by Thursday I had maybe three uses left. But I succumbed to end-of-the-teaching-week pizza and brewskis instead of responsibly going to the "supermarket" - a feat only manageable sometimes - to get more...

I think fate conspired against me. On the upside, I did get a solid eight hours of sleep, regardless of how musty my apartment feels now. And it never would have worked out anyway, after the first five hours of militant inactivity I was getting restless. Sigh.
