I never thought that I would ever have to say, "Well, I think it's good to wait at least a couple of days after the bombing to go home." I know that I complain occasionally about boredom and ennui, and while suicide bombers do make things more interesting, I think I'm glad I was on vacation while it happened all the same. And that the vacation was extended.

Anyway, I'm home now. Back to a life full of catchy phrases as "another day, another dollar" and "back to the salt mines." I am, however, assured that everything is calm now. As a taxi driver told me the other day, "They're just targeting the police. As long as you stay away from the police, you're fine!" Of course, then he added that it was a shame I wasn't married, and that I would be a spinster soon. Since the former advice was good, I don't want to reject the latter out of hand. Although I won't shed many tears for being off the chopping block at age 24...
