On December 23, I got a call from my mother to let me know that my little sister was going to have her second child. We got to the hospital in the late afternoon, bumming around and entertaining her after the epidural was put in and dozing off. The doctor came in at about 1 am and told her it was time. Because the baby's heart rate was so low, he had to get her out as soon as possible.
He pointed at me, sitting with my eyes tastefully averted from the... area and told me to "get over here." I hemmed and hawed for about 15 seconds but I had no choice. It was either that or my mom would have had to put the camera down. God knows, we couldn't have that. So I sort of... assisted in the birth more than I would have liked. The upside is that I welcomed Christmas Eve with a new little person. I am so happy to introduce my niece that I could keel over with joy. Although, at first I thought I would keel over period from the whole experience.
